Halt Hunger

Donate
Fact: More than 800 million people around the globe suffer from chronic food deprivation every day (worldvision.ca)

Believe it or not, hunger is still evident even in first world countries like Canada. Food insecurity in Canada correlates with income inequality, thus making it even more difficult for the marginalized to cope with economic slowdowns and downturns. Hunger can negatively impact the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of a person. Such a scenario also means negative implications for the country’s health care system as well. While Canada may not be a country with severe financial difficulties, some Canadians still suffer from severe food insecurity.
To help our fellow citizens in need, we launched the “Halt Hunger” program. We initiate fund-raising activities and take donations from sponsors such as local businesses, other organizations, and individuals and give them to community shelters to feed the homeless.

In our little ways, we are able to give back to the community. Get in touch with us now if you wish to donate or help us connect with more sponsors to halt hunger.

Bangon Pilipinas/Pinas (Rise Philippines)

Donate
A little help goes a long way, especially to our fellow kababayan (Filipinos) in need.

As a tropical country with seriously frightening fault lines and being part of the Pacific typhoon belt, the Philippines is beset with natural calamities such as typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis, and landslides. In fact, the Philippines ranked 3rd among the 173 countries in the world in terms of disaster risk index (World Risk Report 2011). This is primarily because the country is near the equator, with the added harsh effects of climate change. Evidence of which are increased floods and droughts, soil degradation, and water shortages.
The Philippines’ vulnerability to these disasters results to many casualties – loss of properties, livelihood, and even lives. With this in mind, we developed the Bangon Pilipinas program. “Bangon” is a Tagalog word which translates to get up or rise, and we often use this term to continue to fight despite challenges that we face.

Through this program, we raise funds and provide relief goods for the Filipinos severely affected by natural calamities. So far, we have already launched Bangon Bicol and Bangon Bohol in [insert year], and helped over 10,000 families affected by the typhoon [insert name of typhoon] in the province of Bicol and typhoon [insert name of typhoon] in Bohol.

Join our team of volunteers and help more Filipinos to rise!

Scholarship Grants

Donate
As the saying goes, education is the foundation of our future. The type and quality of education creates the foundation on which that future is built. But what about the future of those underprivileged?

Many children in the Philippines do not have access to proper education because of high tuition fees. Some are not able to finish even primary education, as a result of poverty. Some also opt to help their parents by working at an early age instead of studying.
Education can greatly influence how we think and act. We believe that learning and gaining more skills can improve a child’s life in many ways. Therefore, we offer scholarships to those deserving students who cannot afford the proper education they need.

Be one of our sponsors and help a child get the future they deserve.

Upcoming Events

Akbay Lakbay is an annual walk for a cause with an emphasis on fun and community involvement. This event aims to unite walkers, runners, and volunteers to raise funds for MCBN Foundation’s outreach programs.

“Akbay” is a Tagalog word which is an act of putting one’s arm over the shoulder of another person. We interpret this act as to carry or support someone in need. “Lakbay,” on the other hand, means journey.

This event is Canada-wide, connecting people with generous hearts from one major city to another. This is also a way to promote MCBN Foundation’s programs and engage with more donors in raising funds to support our foundation’s advocacies.

Walking with us means helping more beneficiaries and at the same time, it means improving your mental and physical health too. Walk with us in this journey to support more people in need.
